New Morning Glass Studio

Doorknob Products Catalog

New Morning Glass makes each doorknob completely by hand using the "offhand" method of glassblowing. We gather the glass which is 2150 F. from our glass furnace. Our furnace glass is a sand, soda and lime crystal. This gather is on the end of a "punty" pipe. We roll the hot glass in colored "fritted" glass. We add our colors one at a time. We then manipulate the colors into our designs.

Shipping
Please allow 4 to 6 weeks from the time your order is placed until it is shipped from our studio in Illinois. Shipping time will vary.

Payment
Payment can be through Paypal or phone order. Our handblown glass knobs are all custom and therefore we require full payment before production can begin. Orders may not be cancelled once production has begun.

Refund/Returns
We insure all shipments. When your order is received, open the box immediately to check for damaged or missing items. No adjustments will be made beyond 7 days after receipt of the shipment.

We do not accept returns unless incorrect products were shipped or damaged. Each doorknob and cabinet knob is created by hand. Bubbles (we put some of them there) are an inherent part of handblown glass. We can send pictures via email. All knobs vary slightly in size, shape and color. That is part of the process of glassblowing. We work hard to make a unique and beautiful product. We want our customers pleased with New Morning Glass and the entire shopping experience.

The Craftsman Design Series

The "Craftsmen" design uses a popular art glass nouveau technique called "raking". It's a very classic glass design.

The Coastal Design Series

The "Coastal" design is using glass powders and shaping the glass in an "optic mold" to create the lines of color in the design. It reminds us of sea anemones on the coast.

The Whimsical Design Series

Our "Whimsical" design uses techniques that we developed from our stained glass studio. We cut the images (hearts, stars, aliens) out of compatible stained glass and pick them up onto our doorknob as we are forming it.
